The Free Lance-Star recently highlighted the groundbreaking Jeremiah Project, a first-of-its-kind housing and supportive services initiative developed by our pro bono client, Micah Ecumenical Ministries. This project sets a new standard in Virginia for addressing homelessness and will likely serve as a model for other communities. The initial phase of the project will be built off Wicklow Dr. and will include 50 small homes and a community center, which will be a hub for supportive services. The overall project includes 80 multifamily units and 109 single family units. Hirschler partner Charlie Payne supported the applicants, earning recognition in the article—an excellent showcase of our firm’s commitment to pro bono work and community impact.
Fredericksburg City Council’s unanimous approval (6-0) of the rezoning for The Jeremiah Project marked a historic moment for Micah Ecumenical Ministries and the community. The approval means they can officially move forward with plans to create a safe, supportive housing neighborhood.
