Jamie Canup, recently named partner and chair of the tax practice section, was interviewed by Law360 and quoted on October 27 regarding his recent hire.

The article entitled, “Hirschler Taps Kaufman & Canoles Partner As Tax Head,” discusses Canup joining the firm’s Richmond office, where he will focus on pass-through entities like partnerships, real estate investment trusts and limited liability companies.

Aside from handling pass-through clients, Canup advises issuers and investment managers on qualified tuition programs like 529 plans and municipal fund securities, and he says his practice at the firm will continue to delve deeper into transactional work. “I've always done transactional tax, but now I'm expanding into transactional work,” he said.

As head of the tax group, Canup is eager about the challenges he will face. He went on to say, “Hirschler has a much stronger Richmond and central Virginia presence, and the opportunity to head up a tax section for the firm was very exciting for me.”
