Andrew is a trusted advisor to real estate investors, developers, and other businesses and individuals in Virginia and across the country, guiding them through a wide range of real estate and corporate matters.  His areas of experience and expertise include acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, corporate structures, complex title issues, foreclosure, mergers & acquisitions, and local counsel & opinion practice.  Having worked on matters across Virginia, Andrew is particularly well-versed in the unique legal landscape of the Commonwealth, including such particulars as Virginia land trusts and recordation taxes.  Additionally, Andrew regularly provides pro bono support in landlord-tenant disputes, underscoring his commitment to community service.

Andrew worked in the Virginia office of a national law firm before joining Hirschler. Prior to law school, he spent nearly four years in China and Taiwan. He studied Chinese at Tsinghua University in Beijing and National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei. During this time, he also worked as a paralegal in the Beijing office of a major U.S. law firm, assisting with various cross-border transactions, which added an international dimension to his experience and perspective.

  • Represent buyers and sellers in the acquisition and disposition of various types of real estate across the country, including automobile and equipment dealerships, homebuilding, industrial, flex space, data center, agriculture, land, multi-family, office, and residential; Negotiating and drafting purchase & sale agreements and managing deals from signing to closing
  • Represent landlords and tenants in negotiating leases and dealing with leasing issues for various types of real estate across the country, including automobile and equipment dealerships, flex space, office, residential, retail, and treatment care; Negotiate and draft lease agreements and related documents
  • Represent clients in structuring and executing real estate development joint ventures
  • Represent clients in re-structuring real estate holdings and addressing corporate and land issues, such as breaking up a multi-property partnership and unwinding a land trust into a modern LLC structure
  • Provide assistance and counsel in land use and development matters, such as reviewing and advising on zoning matters in acquisitions, drafting and negotiating easements, and adjusting boundaries
  • Represent lenders and borrowers in real estate and corporate financing, including negotiating and drafting loan agreements and ancillaries, issuing opinion letters, and conducting foreclosures
  • Represent clients in various general corporate and commercial matters, such as choice of entity and company formation, structuring for real estate holdings, and drafting organizational documents; Experience in tax code provisions on Qualified Small Business Stock
  • Experience representing buyers and sellers in mergers & acquisitions, primarily in the government contractor sector; Drafting purchase agreements and conducting due diligence
  • Experience representing owners in AIA construction and architecture contracts

Andrew lives in Fauquier County with his wife and four children, where they enjoy raising chickens and doing other projects.  They are also involved with a variety of school, church, and other community activities.  His personal interests include studies in religion, history, geopolitics, and financial matters, as well as the appreciation of automobiles both modern and classic.
